There are different ways in which you can use our website. You may use our services to determine whether to become a customer of Gauge (a “Client”), take a tour, sign up for a free trial, create an account, create or administer tests, examine or analyze test results, or even to manage certifications. You may use our services to take a test or use another service administered by your employer or prospective employer, or as part of a certification process (a “User”).
We collect information to provide better services to Clients and Users. When you sign up for a free trial and become a Client, we ask for personal information, like your organization name, address, website URL, your individual name, email address, telephone number, and certain information about how you intend to use the Gauge application. Clients may configure the Gauge website to charge Users, in which event, we do not store purchase information, including credit card holder names, numbers, billing addresses, expiration dates, or security codes.
When a User employs our services to take a test or use another service, we automatically collect and store details of how you used our services, including your identity, responses to questions, how much time you spent answering questions and how long it took you to complete the entire test. We also collect and store certain information in server logs. Depending upon the test or service, we may collect and process information about your actual location, internet protocol address, and whether your test was proctored. As part of administering a test, we may collect and store information locally on your device using various mechanisms such as browser web storage, HTML, and application data caches. We may use cookies to identify your browser or device.
The information we collect and store is associated with a specific Client account and is owned by that Client. Test answers, scores, and related information may be exported by the Client associated with that account and disclosed by the Client in the Client’s discretion.
The information we collect and store may be aggregated with information collected and stored from other Users for generating test specific analytics, which analytics may be disclosed to the Client associated with that account or test.
When you contact Gauge, we maintain a record of your communication to assist in resolving any issues you raise. We may use your email address to respond, to inform you about our services, including developments and improvements.
We use the information we collect from Clients and Users to provide, maintain and improve our services. We do not share personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside of our Clients or Gauge and its service providers.
We will disclose personal information if we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request.
Gauge hosts its software using multiple data centers, all of which support SSL. The data centers are geographically dispersed and are SAS 70 Type II and PCI Level 1 Certified.
